Boost Your LinkedIn Strategy using AI

LinkedIn and AI - A LinkedIn Live Test of new tools

New AI tools are launched every week that can open up opportunities to enhance your LinkedIn presence.  When Google’s NotebookLM was launched, Ursula and I decided to have some fun with it on our LinkedIn Live, Your LinkedIn Strategy Using AI.

Here’s my key takeaways from our Live experiment:

Refine Your Digital Persona

Your LinkedIn profile is your digital first impression, and ensuring it aligns with your professional goals is a key step. I like to use ChatGPT or Perplexity to analyse my or a client’s digital footprint across the web.

If you can find discrepancies between how you want to be presented and what others may see before, then you can head to the sources and update them.

A key source is, of course, LinkedIn.  Fine-tune your LinkedIn profile by highlighting strengths and expertise and be known for the things you want to be known for.

ACTION: Search for your company and you.  Are you happy with what you read?

Now, tell AI to be your ideal target customer.  What do they think you can help them with?

Clear and Effective Communication

We all experience moments of what I call “spaghetti-like thinking” – when ideas are messy and complicated, and we struggle to articulate them clearly.  I’m probably not the only one with this problem!

AI writing tools like Claude help untangle these thoughts and distil them into impactful messaging. Use AI tools to analyse your text for clarity and coherence, refine your language, structure your arguments, and ensure your LinkedIn posts, messages, and articles hit the mark.

AI can be a helpful writing coach!

LinkedIn Content Repurposing

We all know that content matters, and more than that – it’s a never-ending task! AI tools help you repurpose and adapt your content for different channels, audiences, and formats. A well-written blog post, for example, can be transformed into an engaging infographic, a concise podcast episode, or a series of impactful LinkedIn updates.

Using Google’s Notebook LM, we generated a podcast from a newsletter.

During our LinkedIn Live we started playing the podcast.

Our two AI voices were discussing my newsletter and putting some commentary around that.  This freed my colleague Ursula and I to get into the comments on LinkedIn and chat with the live audience there.

It was a completely different dynamic.  The podcast hosts conversationally shared our content while we got involved in the real and live comments on the event page.

LinkedIn Live: Your LinkedIn Strategy using AI

In this case, it was clearly AI, but you can see how I incorporated a ‘human touch’. That’s an important point: AI is a tool, not a substitute for ‘you’. Keep your content unique and engaging by adding your spin.

AI within LinkedIn Sales Navigator

It is challenging to cover this topic without addressing the advancements made by Sales Navigator.

For sales professionals, LinkedIn Sales Navigator is an indispensable tool. With AI, it is becoming ever more powerful.

AI provides strategic goals and a competitor view of the companies you are researching on the platform.  It is interesting to see the insights only LinkedIn would know about headcount changes and what this might tell us about their business strategy.

FAQ

What are the potential risks or downsides of using AI in my LinkedIn strategy?

While there are numerous benefits, it’s crucial to acknowledge potential risks: Over-reliance on AI: Too much AI-generated content could make your profile seem impersonal and inauthentic. Remember, genuine human connection remains vital on LinkedIn. Privacy concerns: Some AI tools require access to your data, raising privacy concerns. Always review the terms and conditions before using any AI tool. I have mentioned tools I like to use, but you should choose the tools that work for you. Bias in AI algorithms: AI algorithms can perpetuate existing biases, potentially leading to unfair or discriminatory outcomes. It’s crucial to be mindful of potential biases and strive for inclusivity in your LinkedIn strategy. Accuracy and reliability: While AI tools continually improve, they can still make mistakes. It is crucial to review and edit any AI-generated content to ensure accuracy and align it with your brand voice.

Are there any free AI tools for LinkedIn marketers?

Yes, several free AI tools offer basic functionalities, such as: Grammar and spelling checkers: Most web browsers and word processors have built-in grammar and spelling checkers. Essential AI writing assistants: Some free versions of AI writing assistants offer limited features, such as suggestions for sentence structure and word choice. However, more advanced AI tools with features like content repurposing and personalised outreach typically require a paid subscription.
